My life as an active musician began at the age of 13, I formed my first band the same year, a progressive rock band ‘prohibition’ and began gigging in local pubs and venues a year later. This was to become my main band for 6 years. I was involved with several side projects including ‘Monkey Puzzle’ a funk dance band which became well established in the south. I passed Grade 8 with distinction at the end of sixth form. I then gained a scholarship at the University of the West of England studying Creative Music Technology and left these projects behind. It was here that I started composing solo bass pieces, which later evolved into my duo Psycho-Acoustic Goat.
Since moving to Bristol I have performed at many shows, solo and with a variety of different bands. I have made extensive use of the studio equipment recording my own projects and other artists. I have also gained a high understanding of a variety of creative software such as logic, pro tools and final cut pro. Together with this I have been given a sound grounding in programming languages C and Max/MSP.
I was awarded best final year project from the University for my first tuition book ‘Advanced Bass Tuition’ and I received a bursary to get this printed and released which is Available in independent music shops including Mickleburgh, Opus 13 and Cars & Guitars as well as Amazon and through my website. Since graduating with 1st class Hons, I have toured extensively around the UK, Europe and Australia as a session player for Steelyard Blues, a soloist and a co founder of Shambolique a theatrical funk band. I continue to play with a variety of bands as well as leading my own projects ‘Mammoth Toe’ and ‘Psycho-Acoustic goat’
